Following in the footsteps of Rafael Nadal (2014) and David Ferrer (2015), Roberto Bautista has become the third Spaniard to win the Qatar Open after defeating Tomas Berdych in the final by 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.
Bautista has an excellent record in January, now having won four of his nine titles in the opening month of the year: Auckland 2016 and 2018, Chennai 2017 and Doha 2019.
Far from celebrating and relaxing after Friday’s win over Novak Djokovic, Bautista came out on top form to claim another win.
He had not played in Doha since 2012, but adapted quickly to a slower surface than in Auckland and achieved the final break in the fourth game of the third set.
